Integrating Linn DS in a Knekt system

  The Linn DS products can only act as sources (like a CD player, Radio etc) within the Knekt system. The Linn DS or Linn DSI products CANNOT replace any Linn Knekt preamplifier products within a system as they do not have any Linn Knekt control sockets (Remote IN/OUT) and can only be controlled by IR. (Early versions on the Linn Sekrit-DSI had Remote IN/OUT connectors, but never incorporated in to the internal software for use) The Internal volume control of the Linn DS products must be disabled. Otherwise you will have two volume controls in the system. One within the Linn DS player and one in each room controlled by the Linn Knekt-RCU. This means that you could have the Room volume quite high and the Linn DS volume quite low. If you switch to another source, like the TV, this is now playing at a high volume control! Using the Linn DSI products can confuse things even further as you may not be listening to a media streaming source and/or you cannot disable the internal volume control: Linn Room Control Unit (RCU) Linn BASIK-3(-IR) RCU The Linn Sneaky-DS and Linn Sekrit-DSI are the only products with Linn RCU- Accessory sockets. These ACC sockets are designed for use with ONLY the Linn Basik3 and Linn Basik3-IR RCU use. The Linn Basik3 RCU allows Standby and volume up/down control. The Linn Basik3-IR RCU has the additional IR control option of the Linn Sekrit-DSI and Linn Sneaky-DS.

Red Eye Remotes

With the new RedEye remotes system you can use your iPhone or iPod touch to control your TV, stereo, cable box, DVD player, and many other devices that receive standard (infrared) signals. In other words, no more hunting through your sofa cushions for all those different remotes; all the control you need is right in your pocket. After you install the RedEye app (a free download from iTunes) on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can communicate with the RedEye device over Wi-Fi. Then the RedEye device sends out infrared signals to control your equipment. Because the RedEye device is in the same room as your equipment, you don’t have to be. Instead, you can control your living room stereo from the kitchen, or turn off the TV upstairs. Like some high-end home automation setups, the RedEye system is modular: you can control more rooms by adding more RedEye devices, or add more controllers by adding more iPhones. Unlike the high-end setups, the RedEye system comes at a fraction of the price and doesn’t require a professional installer. Unlike most other remote controls, the RedEye system connects to the Internet.* That means there is a whole world of new possibilities for you to experience your entertainment. Linn Knekt Multi-Room System

  Linn Knekt was the original multi-room system supplied by Linn. At Rococo, we are one of a few of Linn’s Knekt specialists, and have been installing, servicing and repairing multi-room systems for over 20 years. Some Linn DS internet Radio functions can be programmed into the Linn Dekoda. The Knekt-RCU will only control the Linn DS by IR and therefore has no feedback as to which track is playing etc. The important point is that the Linn Knekt-RCU must be programmed for this new source by a Linn specialist.
