Linn LP12

The Linn LP12, also known as Sondek, is a transcription turntable. Its name derives from the 12-inch vinyl LP (long-play gramophone) record.

Linn Products is a manufacturer of multi-room audio systems, hi-fi, and home theatre products in Glasgow.

Linn named the Sondek CD12 their flagship CD player after its legendary success.

Sondek’s LP12 turntable was introduced in 1972. It features a suspension sub-chassis design as well as a patented single-point bearing that is tightly toleranced.

Though the LP12 has seen many changes since its introduction in 1972, its basic suspension sub-chassis design remains.

Linn did not invent the turntable. “They simply realized that there was more information than people could access on an LP record, so they used their engineering knowledge to extract it.”
