The secret to great lighting is control                                             

Dramatically change the mood of a room with a lighting control system from Lutron or iLight. These will enable you to create different lighting scenes at the touch of a button. For example most of the standard keypads we use have four buttons with different lighting scenes available for each – ie. ‘home cinema’ mode could turn the main lights off while ‘reading mode’ could be programmed to turn them on. With a lighting system different types of lighting can be controlled (ie. table lamps, spot lights and wall lights) and it’s possible to program entire areas of the house, not just one room. So, for example, you could have a button that created a pathway of light between a bedroom and bathroom if someone wanted to use the toilet in the middle of the night.

For peace of mind a lighting system can also be linked into your security system. Should the alarm activate, designated lights will switch on both inside and outside of your home. It’s also possible to make the outside lights flash on and off signalling that something is wrong. You can program the system to check the house before you go to sleep and turn off all the lights automatically. And if you go away on holiday the lighting system can even replicate the lighting pattern of your home to give the impression that you are still there.

Lighting control systems can be hardwired or wireless and can control just one room or the entire house.
