Arcam Solo Mini

The Arcam Solo range may be 'one-box' solutions but that does not mean any other compromises have been made. Top quality Hi-Fi performance is the bottom line and the design then falls into place to achieve that objective.

The Solo Mini, like its counterpart the Solo Music, houses a very competent CD player with circuitry taken from their award winning CD73 player clock and DAC's). The DAC's will handle MP3 discs as well as standard CD. The toroidal power supply ensures a clean feed into the entire machine and provides high current to the output stages for effortless speaker driving.

The Arcam Solo range may be 'one-box' solutions but that does not mean any other compromises have been made. Top quality Hi-Fi performance is the bottom line and the design then falls into place to achieve that objective.

The toroidal power supply ensures a clean feed into the entire machine and provides high current to the output stages for effortless speaker driving.

Mounted on the front panel is a USB connection ready to take portable music devices and reproduce their content with the same precision as the other inputs. The rear panel sports five line level inputs and even a pre-amp out for further expansion.

Amplification is a modest twenty-five watts per channel into 8 Ohms with audiophile grade components used throughout.

Control of the Solo Mini is via the infra red remote included or through a third party control system and the RS232 connection. If the machine is to be located away from the IR remote's line of sight then the IR input jack on the back can be used to inject the commands directly from an IR repeater system, eg Xantech. The main controls for the unit are on the top panel leaving the front with a clean and unfussy appearance.

As if this was not enough there is even a clock inbuilt with four alarms so you can wake up to your favourite CD or radio station.

For iPod users Arcam have the rDock available to carry control and audio from your iPod to your Solo Mini. The video out of the dock connects directly to your screen. The control cable connects to the RS232 terminal on the Solo Mini back panel so the main remote control can feed into the dock to allow control and navigation.
