The A38 is built with close attention to detail and that included a lot of time studying the effects of thermal conditions on the resulting audio effect. Probably not a past time for all the family but thankfully the Arcam designers have done all the hard work to provide a design that is untroubled by changes in circuitry due to thermal changes. The A38 sounds stunning at all times. From component design to little vibration reducing devices on capacitors, the machine is built to extract the very best from your source.

The toroidal power supply provides oodles of stable power for the amplification and processing. The processing circuits are all as short as possible to reduce the chances of possible signal degradation. Tone controls are not used so no noise can be added here. Burr Brown op-amps and volume controls are used for their transparency in the audio line and even hermetically sealed reed relay input switching that has immeasurable distortion and noise.

The list of technical enhancements to the humble two channel amplifier is long and best left to the enthusiast but be assured, this is a seriously good sounding amplifier. All you need to do is partner it with decent sources, cables and speakers. And don't tarnish it with pop music.* * just a suggestion.

There is a set of pre-outs provided allowing the device to work either as just a pre amp or why not partner it with a P38 power amplifier and bi-amp your speakers. Processor mode allows you too use the amplification to run the front left/right in an AV set up by using the pre-out of a separate processor. This signal goes into the A38 through the AV input and the gain of the amp is fixed. This fixed setting is user adjustable to match the processor you are using meaning you can use the speakers in your AV system for movies and also for high quality two channel direct from the A38.
