As you now the iPhone has no infrared capabilities. This little device will take the Wi-Fi signals from your iPhone and convert it to infrared. The RedEye device works in conjunction with a free application available from the iTunes App store and when you’re not using your iPhone you can use the RedEye’s universal dock to charge your iPhone. Using the RedEye your iPhone can control “virtually all home entertainment devices with infrared capabilities”. This would seem to include set-top boxes, DVD players, lights, and so much more.
